Youth and the Future: The Inspiring 3rd Networking Seminar “YOUTH Salon”

On April 24, the Latvian-Chinese Friendship Association organized the 3rd networking event “YOUTH Salon: YOUTH AND THE FUTURE”. It became a unique platform where Latvian and Chinese youth, professionals, and representatives of the Chinese Embassy jointly mapped out a path toward closer cooperation in culture, education, and science.

The event was opened with inspiring words by the Chinese Ambassador to Latvia, H.E. Tang Songgen.

The Heart of the Event - Interactive Workshops:

Culture and Literature: Literary bridges must start with classics! It was proposed to translate Latvian masterpieces “Lāčplēsis” and “Indrāni” into Chinese, and to introduce Latvian readers to Ba Jin’s novel “Family”.

Cinema and Media: We concluded that Latvian viewers can identify with the historical struggles of Chinese cinema. Youth proposed screening and translating films such as “Farewell My Concubine” and “Dying to Survive” in Latvia.

Travel: An ideal 7-day itinerary (Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Chengdu) was developed, even introducing a special point system for travelers to make the experience even more exciting.

Innovations: In the special edition of the magazine “ChinaTimesEU”, youth recommend focusing on fashion, culture, and travel.

Education and Personalities: The future goal is cooperation with leading universities (Peking University, Tsinghua) and the desire to meet innovation leaders such as Lei Jun (Xiaomi), Wang Chuanfu (BYD), and artist Jackson Wang in person.

After productive discussions, the evening continued in an informal atmosphere of sharing ideas, establishing contacts, and practicing English and Chinese language skills.

We are pleased to see our youth’s aspiration for high technologies, respect for traditions, and desire to create a world where cultural boundaries become bridges!

Thank you to everyone who was with us! See you at future events!
