Travelling to China
Do I need a visa?
A valid visa is required to enter China. The application form is completed in advance and then submitted in printed form to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Latvia. Documents must be handed in at the embassy in person, and fingerprints are taken at the same appointment.
Education & research
Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU)
Latvian has been taught here since 2011, first as an elective and, since 2020, as a full undergraduate programme. The first two years use textbooks written specifically for Chinese students, and every student can join a summer school or spend half a year or a full year in Latvia on exchange.
Beijing International Studies University (BISU)
The School of European Studies has offered Latvian since 2015. The programme runs two years of intensive Latvian in Beijing, then a period at Riga Technical University in Latvia, before students return to Beijing to complete their certificate.
Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies (RDCY)
