In Beijing, the leadership of the Latvian-Chinese Friendship Association — president Dr. Ņina Linde — held an official meeting with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the premier national organisation dedicated to China’s people-to-people diplomacy and international friendship.

The CPAFFC delegation was represented by Mr. Hao Zhongwei, Secretary-General; Mr. Ji Yongjun, Vice Secretary-General; and Mr. Chen Lei, Deputy Director-General of the Department of European and Central Asian Affairs.

The discussions focused on strengthening practical bilateral cooperation between Latvia and China, targeting several key areas:

  • Joint Think-Tank Collaboration. Establishing a framework for joint think-tank organisation and expert dialogue between the two associations.
  • Tourism Development. Prioritising tourism as a prime avenue for cultural exchange and fostering closer ties between peoples.
  • Content Contribution for “China Times EU”. CPAFFC expressed its readiness to contribute authoritative content, insights, and features about modern China for the “China Times EU” magazine.

Direct contacts and NGO dialogue of this nature serve as a crucial foundation for long-term trust and mutual partnership.
